Oma (2024)
Oma (2024) was the first publishing of the travel log kept during a two year long journey (2022–2024) and my life in Turkey. The Paper Ribbon — a 20 meter long strip of words chronicling daily events and rythm of life, wound around a spool — unfurled in the showcase window (118 × 400) in Istanbul in February 2022. Behind velvet curtains, in a hidden back room, the exhibition opened with an improvised flute duet by two wandering musicians.
For the closing of the exhibition a performative reading took place with five actors who responded in movement and gesture to the stories and images I read aloud. A projection accompanied the performance, showing a video of the document as it slowly turned inside the spool.
